Started With Hail, Like Most Oklahoma Roofing Stories
In April 1998 a storm dropped baseball-size hail across east Tulsa, and Randy Hutchins — then a sheet metal journeyman at a HVAC shop — spent the summer watching his neighbors get their second shingle roof in six years. He figured there had to be a better way to spend insurance money. His brother Cole had a truck. That was the business plan.
The first few years were barns and shops, because farmers already understood metal. Houses came slowly — in 2001 a standing seam roof on a home in Maple Ridge got us in the Tulsa World's home section, and the phone hasn't really stopped since.
How We Work
We're a 12-person outfit and intend to stay roughly that size. Both crews are our own W-2 employees; the newest hire has been with us four years. We roll most panels on site with our own machine, which means your panels are cut to the inch and there's no freight damage hiding under the ridge cap.
- Estimates: Randy still runs every one personally. Expect him on your roof, not in your living room with a laminated flip book.
- Scheduling: Darlene will give you a real week, not a "window." Weather moves things; she'll call before you have to ask.
- The invoice: matches the estimate unless we found rot, and if we found rot you already have photos of it.
The Warranty, In Plain English
Panel finish is covered by the manufacturer for up to 50 years depending on the coating you choose (we'll explain the difference between SMP and Kynar in about two minutes, it's not complicated). Our workmanship — flashing, fasteners, penetrations, the stuff that actually leaks — is on us for 10 years, in writing, transferable once if you sell the house.
